GROWING CONDITION | Because eggplant really needs warm soil to grow well, gardeners in cool climates often do best growing the plants in large, dark-colored containers. On a sunny day, soil temperatures inside black pots may be 10 degrees or more higher than in-ground soil temperatures. |
GERMINATION RATE | 80 to 90 % |
KEY FEATURE | Fruit Shape : Oblong Fruit Colour : Black Fruit Weight : 200 - 250 gm Calyx : Non Spiny Green High yield potential Good pulp for bharata preparation with less seed content. |
Description | MAHY 112(MHBJ 112) Black Bharta The characteristics of colour, high yield, pulp abundance and low seed content make this a suitable variety for the preparation of Bharta. Characteristics: Eggplant is a warm-weather plant. The optimum temperature for germination is 24-29°C (seedlings should emerge in 6-8 days) and 22-30°C for growth and fruit development. Full sun is a must. Eggplant is adaptable to different kinds of soil conditions. Deep, fertile and well-drained sandy loam or silt loam soils are desirable. Eggplant cannot tolerate frost and the growth of young plants is retarded when the temperature is below 16°C. Eggplant can tolerate drought and excessive rainfall, but growth slows when temperatures exceed 35°C. |
